POSTPONED Remainder Of Old Tappan Zee Bridge To Come Down January 12th

Due to the winds, the demolition work that was scheduled for this Saturday morning, 1/12/19, has been postponed. The new date and time has not been selected yet.

The remaining section of the old Tappan Zee Bridge will be dismantled via controlled explosion, which will take place in the morning of Saturday January 12th.  There is apparently a need for explosives, rather than just dismantling it, because of the "unsafe conditions" of the remaining structure.

This activity will cause the bridge to be closed in both directions from a bit before 9am until approximately 10am that day. Plan your travels accordingly. Image title
